Story Excerpt:
Luma stepped off the plane and drew in a deep breath. The evening air was crisp and cool.
BERLIN!
This wonderful city, the one that, like New York and other famous metropolises, never slept!
Luma loved being in the capital of this nation, divided for so long, carrying its difficult past with a resilient elegance.
She had come to Berlin for business: Sandra, a long-time client, had reached out again after several years.
Luma valued Sandra deeply: a smart and cunning businesswoman, successful and often on the move. Luma had accompanied her on several business trips abroad in the past. Their conversations, their evenings and their nights had always been inspiring, always stimulating.
Five years ago, Sandra had met her partner, and from that moment, she had lived exclusively and monogamously.
Three weeks ago, Sandra had reached out once more. Her relationship had ended. It was time, she said, to treat herself, to finally place herself in Luma’s capable hands again.
Luma retrieved her luggage from the carousel and set off toward her hotel.
